Status update
Claude account bans and SEPA: what is confirmed?
A source-led update for readers of our July 2026 coverage. It separates official account guidance from reports about a broader ban wave.

Current verified guidance
Claude’s official help center says that a person who believes their account was wrongly suspended or terminated can sign in with the affected account and use the linked appeal form. The help article says responses are taking longer than normal. It does not give an individual appeal deadline or guarantee reinstatement. Claude’s public status site reports service availability and incidents. A green service status does not establish that an individual account restriction has been reversed. Source: Claude Status.
What remains unverified
We found no public Anthropic incident notice that establishes the total number of accounts affected by an alleged July SEPA-related ban wave, a universal cause for every ban, or a blanket restoration date. Earlier site articles describe reports from that period; their estimates and causal claims should not be treated as an official incident count.
If Anthropic publishes a notice with a scope, timeline or resolution, we will link it here and update the date above. Individual cases still require the official appeal route.
If your account is affected
Use the appeal form linked from the official Claude help article. Keep your own billing records and the account notice for reference. For a payment question, contact the provider or your bank through their official channels; outcomes depend on your circumstances.
